🤔 How Does This Tool Work?

The GPA Calculator uses a weighted average formula:

GPA = Σ(Grade × Credits) ÷ Σ(Credits)

For example, with three subjects:

  • Mathematics: Grade 90, Credits 4 → 90 × 4 = 360 points
  • English: Grade 75, Credits 3 → 75 × 3 = 225 points
  • Science: Grade 85, Credits 3 → 85 × 3 = 255 points
  • Total points = 840, Total credits = 10
  • GPA = 840 ÷ 10 = 84.0

The weighting by credits is important — a subject with 4 credits affects your GPA twice as much as one with 2 credits.

❓ FAQ
What is GPA?▼
GPA stands for Grade Point Average. It is a number that represents your overall academic performance across all your subjects. It is calculated by weighting each subject's grade by its credit value.
How is GPA calculated?▼
GPA = Total (Grade × Credits for each subject) ÷ Total Credits. This weighted average means higher-credit subjects have more impact on your final GPA than lower-credit subjects.
What is a good GPA?▼
In a 100-point scale: 90-100 is excellent (A+/A), 80-89 is very good (B), 70-79 is good (C), 60-69 is satisfactory (D), below 60 may be failing. In a 4.0 scale (used in USA): 3.5+ is excellent, 3.0 is good, 2.0 is passing.
What is the difference between GPA and CGPA?▼
GPA is your Grade Point Average for one semester or period. CGPA (Cumulative GPA) is your overall average across all semesters combined. CGPA gives a complete picture of your academic career.
Why do some subjects count more than others?▼
Subjects with more credit hours (or credit units) take more class time and cover more material. They are weighted more heavily in your GPA calculation because they represent a bigger part of your academic workload.
